Mrauk U…

28 05 2012

We’re so busy at work that we just can’t get our heads around any serious blog-o-rama at the moment (it’s the lead-in to Shirley Hannan 2012.)

So we’re going to drop in some lovely eye candy for intermission…the next leg of our most recent dash to Burma…

After Bagan the Gang flew to Sittwe on the west coast, ahead of a seven hour boat trip up river to Mrauk U, the ancient capital…

…what might have otherwise proved tedious (time-wise) was pleasantly interspersed with luncheon…

…general boat spotting…

and dedicated languishing…

We arrived at the Princess Resort after dark and woke up to this…

Our stay was spent exploring the environs of Mrauk U…

…particularly further upriver…

…visiting Chin villages…

…and doing the rounds of the temples…

Gorgeous.

So many more snaps here.

The perfeck son-in-law…

25 04 2012

Ya gotta love a son-in-law who hires the Elephant Bus to pick you up from the airport..

.

…to drive you in solitary, air conditioned comfort through Rangoon…

…and whet ya whistle with your favourite bubbles…

…and, over the next couple of days, take you to all your fave haunts…

…even sniffing out a glass factory as a surprise treat…

…before putting you on the plane for Bagan and Sammy Jo. We loves that boy.

Highlights here.

Off to Burma…

3 04 2012

Well darlings, it’s true, tomorrow morning we’re off to our favourite place (bar home) yet again – and still without posting our fave highlights from last year. Ah, doesn’t matter, too much to do, too much to see. Who cares except us, anyhow.

So we’re just going to drop in a little Mandalay chandelier and glass-mosaic-o-rama to whet the collective whistle. Oh God, but how beautiful it is…

We can’t get enough of it obviously. And yes, we’re off for more of the same, and MORE.

The Gang’s arriving in Rangoon on Thursday morning, the day of the official election result  announcements – so the place will well and truly be going off.

We’ll be back in 2 weeks….maybe. If we can tear ourselves away.

The Poo, naturally, is coming too.
