Friday night at the BVRG…

 Tour de Force: in case of emergency break glass has opened at the Bega Valley Regional Gallery and looks positively splendiferous.

Nic and Trish made it down for the opening, which was a serious bonus, and a lovely fall-about was had by all. The show had actually been open for the week leading up to the official launch so a large percentage of the opening-night-regulars had swung by the gallery beforehand. The gallant faithfuls, needless to say, still braved the cold and dark…

…and were rewarded with a fortifying drop of Rocky Hall red and a rousing speech from Klaus…

Fundraising b’day at Spiral…

On Wednesday night Spiral Gallery held a gala fundraiser on the approx date of their 14th anniversary. A lovely night was had by all the faithfuls, with music courtesy of Maestro Mark…

…and lots more besides…

The focus of the evening was the tasting and purchase of boxes of wine, all labelled with paintings by the co-op’s practicing stars. And when it came down to it, frankly, the quality of the wine was of no import – the object of the exercise being support of the gallery. (The Gang bought a mixed doz, which we’ll just whack on the table at the next partay.)

Wedding, snap!: tale of two weddings…

Who would have thought – practically in unison!

Graeme and Jenny have emailed a photo of their daughter Janette’s wedding to her Iain at a castle in Scotland…

…just as Sammy Jo sent through snaps (taken by her Burmese crew) of her wedding to her Scottish Iain at Taung Be, the village where The Road to Mandalay docks, at Bagan…

But the similarities end there, we suspect (…especially in the food department!!)

The head monk had invited Iain and Sammy Jo to marry at the monastery, and receive his personal blessing…

It was a very low-key affair;  just the crew, the monks and the local villagers (who also prepared the ‘wedding breakfast.’ )

They’re keeping their surnames (Murray and Bottari), so we’ve decided to refer to them collectively as The Muzzbots. [Not that they’re overly thrilled at the prospect – heh, heh. n(Ed)]

The mothers of the brides will be slipping into a mutual toasting session just as soon as Jen and Graeme return from their trip.

Bega spotto…

All roads lead to Bega. Spotted yesterday, first up, was Klausie – who Megsie had a coffee-meet with (he’s the guest speaker for Tour de Force: in case of emergency break glass, which opens at the BVRG on Friday 20th.)

Lovely to see him back in the pink, and off and running again; he’s celebrating his 75th birthay with an exhibition at the Canberra Glassworks in August/September, which will be held in concert with a master class he’s giving with Kirstie, followed hard on the heels by SOFA Chicago and then by another show early next year at Heller in New York (which will travel afterwards to Israel.) Phew!! So it’s full speed ahead in the workshop stakes.

Meanwhile up at the BVRG Rob and Sandy were in the swing of a photo shoot with The Hill girls…

Ivy Hill opening…

The Gang was at the Ivy Hill opening on Saturday evening, along with what seemed to be the entire population of Tanja/Wapengo…

Plenty of goodies on offer.

 [Luckily the Gang’s favourite work in the show was already sold, so we didn’t have to go through the excrutiating will we/won’t weez – especially as we now view everything in terms of the percentage of an airfare to Myanmar!!   n(Ed)]
