Following a hiatus that included a Masters, a heart attack and a move to the digital format, Sutton returns to the realm of exhibiting. A recent trip to India, in particular Rajasthan, is the inspiration behind the forgotten language of light. Sutton’s compositions are intriguing, transforming subject matter within the context of the photograph. The self described Secretary of the Invisible turns his lens to the ordinary, exposing life up close between horizontal and vertical reference points. The key to Sutton’s work is a spatial one and it admits the viewer via surfaces, imagined paths and unattainable space beyond.
