Wow – is Queanbeyhole quite the happening thang, or what!!







Anybody in the National Capital without a hot date this Valentine’s Day should check out the action over at Benedict House…this just came through in dispatches…

Hi Glass Central Canberra,

Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know about art:house and
invite you to come along to the opening of the art:women and the
future:colour exhibitions- part of the art:house | art + design
festival. Both group exhibitions open on 14 February 2009 from 6pm and
feature local emerging artists, designers and photographers.


Opening Night festivities include:

: Tommy Murphy – guest speaker
“Ways to articulate your creative passion and process”
Critically acclaimed playwright Tommy Murphy comes home to Queanbeyan
to be the Guest speaker at the opening night on Feb 14. Named one of
the Top 100 most influential people by The (Sydney) Magazine, Tommy
will speak about creativity in the real world.

: Omar Musa – performance
Local poet, rapper and National Poetry Slam winner Omar Musa will
perform live tracks from his new ‘The Massive EP’. Omar was a winner
of the British Council’s prestigious Realise Your Dream award and
recently returned from London and the US were he worked on his debut

: Emma Knieriem – fashion parade
Local fashion designer Emma Knieriem will present her latest leisure
wear with a mini fashion parade by the ‘Emma K Kittens’ accompanied by
AIS rowers.

: Benjamin Forster- video projection
Local Canberra artist Benjamin Forster will present a site-specific
projection onto the historic exterior of Benedict House with the
support of the BEAM Projection Group.

: Music by LuLu Swing
The opening of the art:women and future:colour group exhibitions will
be accompanied by live acoustic music by local musicians LuLu Swing.

art:house is a month long summer festival celebrating art + design in
the local region. From visual art, photography, illustration and
graphic design – the art:house festival aims to bring together
emerging artists and designers in a program that will showcase and
celebrate our regions creative talents.
